After downloading the theme package open the folder named “brighton-package”, un-zip the folder if it is not already so. Inside the theme package folder you will find the following files:
To upload through your Dashboard, select “Appearance” and then “Themes”. Next, select the “Install Themes” tab at the top of the page and then select the “Upload” link, right above the search field. Choose your file and select “Install Now”. Once the theme is fully uploaded and installed, click “Activate” to activate the WordPress theme.

When uploading your theme with the installer, please ensure you are uploading the theme .zip file, not the entire package you downloaded. In this case, you will be uploading brighton.zip.
To manually upload your new WordPress theme, login with your credentials to your website and locate the wp-content folder in your WordPress install files. Upload the un-zipped Brighton folder into the: wp-content/themes folder.
Once uploaded, activate the theme by heading to the “Themes” menu in the WordPress Dashboard. Locate the Brighton theme and hit “Activate”.

By default, all your latest post will be on display on the home page.
To create a new post, from within your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to the “Posts” tab (located in the Dashboard sidebar) and click on “Add New”. Select the post format on the right sidebar and the format specific meta fields will appear below the editor. Don't forget to upload your featured image!
We highly recommend to use images with a minimum width of 650px for better results.
It is rather important to set your theme menu in the WordPress Dashboard. To do this, locate the Menu options by selecting the “Appearance” tab from the dashboard sidebar and then “Menus”.
Once you’re viewing the Menus, create a new menu and save it. After you’ve saved the menu you can assign a menu to the Primary menu location to make it appear in the sticky top bar.
You can also add a menu in the sidebar, just go under Appearance > Widgets and then select the custom menu widget. Drag it on your wanted sidebar (post or page)
The theme comes with a number of built-in custom page templates. These templates can be used on individual pages to alter the display or functionality.
The Fullwidth template allows the creation of a page without content, so you can easily ad whatever you want. To use the template, simply create a page using the “Fullwidth” page template.
With this simple archives templateyou can create your archives. Simply create a page using the “Archives” page template. The archive lists will automatically display below any page content.
The theme comes packed with a simple contact form. To use the form, simply create a page and use the “Contact” page template. The form will automatically insert below any page content. The form includes jQuery validation to enhance user experience and the recipient email can be configured from the theme customizer.
This theme comes packed with custom widgets that can be used to configure how your site displays content - they can be found under Appearance > Widgets.

Using the Widgets
To employ a widget, simply go to your Widgets editor (located in your WordPress Dashboard in the “Appearance” menu) and drag your widgets into the specified widget areas.
Accessing the Customizer
To access the live Theme Customizer, you may select the Customize button in the admin bar dropdown or select
"Customize" from the Dashboard menu. Note that you must be logged in as a site administrator in order to access the controls.
1. Custom Options
With the theme customizer you can trigger a lot of theme options frombranding, to colors to typography. You will also be able to choose a custom logo , login logo and favicon.
2. Custom Styles
Easily manipulate the theme colors, fonts & CSS elements throughout the theme with the theme customizer.
3. Contact email and social links
Within the Footer section of the Theme Customizer, you'll find text fields to set up your social media links. every added link will be displayed in the footer area.
4. Custom CSS
Insert your own CSS into this block and it will be applied to your website. This overrides all default styles located throughout the theme. Get help learning the art of CSS →
CSS entered in the Custom CSS editor will override all other theme stylesheets. Deleting the styles inputted here will allow the stylesheets display.
